The students of Art & Environment from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen were welcomed for a lecture and workshop at REST. Within their minor, the students study historical examples of site specific art alongside ecocritical approaches in contemporary practice. At REST, these perspectives were translated into a practical exercise. Through observation of the site, close attention to its material and ecological conditions, and the use of imagination, the students stepped into the role of curator. They developed initial proposals for artworks that responded to soil, water, vegetation, and the layered histories of the place. By engaging directly with the dynamics of a living site, the students experienced how exhibitions emerge not as fixed concepts, but as evolving constellations shaped by context, research, and ecological awareness.
